The best sandwiches of Raleigh, NC

Since I only have 4 days left in Raleigh before I begin my road trip to LA, I have been trying to hit up all of my favorite restaurants one last time before I leave.  This is difficult because Raleigh has developed quite the food scene over the past few years and my list is pretty long.

Now I love a tasty sandwich for lunch and I am always looking for new places to satisfy this craving.  Some of my favorite places that do this are Hayes Barton pharmacy at Five Points in Raleigh, Sandwhich on Franklin St. in Chapel Hill, the Rockford on Glenwood in Raleigh, Market on Blount St. in Raleigh, Herons (or the bar and lounge) at the Umstead Hotel in Cary, and the lesser known Which Wich on Lake Boone Trail in Raleigh.  Side note: they are opening a new location in North Hills next to Omega Sports near the movie theater.

In my opinion, Which Wich is the new and improved version of Subway or Quiznos.  They make perfectly toasted sandwiches with fresh tasting and unique ingredients.  How many other places offer pepperoncinis, tzatziki sauce, and crispy onion strings?  My personal favorite is the Bac-Hammon- the perfect mix of ham and bacon with your choice of cheese and other condiment options.

One of the best parts about Which Wich is that you choose the basic option that you want by picking up the respective paper bag and then on the bag are all of the condiment options that you can choose from.  You make your selection on the bag in red sharpie, write your name at the bottom, and then take it to the cashier.  It is quite simple and it keeps the line moving quickly.  It does get busy during lunchtime, but it is well worth the wait!  Below is an example of the sandwich shown above, aka the best one that I have tried yet.
